Q. Hoopla says my Library card is expired or invalid.

When I log into Hoopla and try to check out, I get a message that says, "Sorry, but it appears that your library card is expired or invalid..." What's going on?


That message usually means that there is an issue with your library account.  Did you get a new library card or change your PIN recently?  If so, log into Hoopla as you normally would, then click "Settings" in the upper right corner of the screen.  You will see three buttons across the top of the screen.  Click on the one that says "Library Settings".  The number that starts: 21197 is your library card number.  Remove that number and type in the number on the back of your new card -- don't include any spaces.  Next type in your PIN.  If you changed it, put in the new number.  If you did not change it, type in the old number.  Click "Save"  You will get a message on the screen telling you that you have successfully saved the information.  Your account should now work.  If you have any problems, contact us here, through the "eBook Help" option.

If you have not changed your library card number recently and you see this message, there may be a problem with your library account. Call 1-408-808-2000 for help, or drop into your favorite branch library.
