Q. Is my connection to library WiFi secure and safe from hackers?

Answer

No. All San Jose Public Library wireless networks are “open.” Data is sent in clear text with no encryption. Be careful about sending sensitive information, such as credit card numbers, on an open public network. Turn off file and print sharing when you are not using it. The library is not responsible for any loss of any information that may arise from the use of the wireless connection.
